Tom Wise twist - plucky porker arrested in fraud investigation

It seems that the plucky porker Tom Wise has had a busy weekend with coppers from Bedfordshire police arresting him on suspicion of fraud.

It'll be interesting to see how UKIP respond. Back in October last year, their head of press criticised UKIPwatch for writing a piece on Mr Wise, accusing us of "unsubstantiated mud", while Bob Feal Martinez (who also appears to have a soft spot for this blog) took a swipe and defended Wise's integrity. Now that the press are baying for Wise's blood, UKIP have changed their tune and are frantically trying to disown Wise. But it won't wash, Tom Wise was (along with jailbird and convicted fraudster Ashley Mote) elected as a UKIP MEP in 2004. Even now, UKIP are still more than happy to take membership subs from him. It's unclear how UKIP are going to spin their way out of these scandals at the next European elections, their best bet is presumably to hope that nobody notices.

UKIPwatch also noticed that Wise was released on police bail. Wonder whether the ubiquitous Wise will, true to money-grabbing form, try and put his bail on expenses?

Off thread so apologies but I see that UKIP's dithering over fielding a candidate against David Davis may have cost them dear. Apparently David Icke looks like standing. That's Nigel's 186 votes mopped up already surely. Go on Nige, give it a go. You couldn't do worse than last time. Could you?

Why bother trying to tear UKIP apart? They seem to be making such a great job of it themselves.

Yeap,more Euro dodgy dealings.

BTW, any further news on Labour mep Michael Cashman's financial dealings?

It would be nice to celebrate UKIP's appalling result in Henley. Unfortunately though the otherside of the cigarette paper got 1200+ votes.

Bad day all around really. LOL

Here's a laugh. Apparently the hierarchy are hard at work deciding who will get which post in the government should UKIP win the next general election. Aren't they fantastic?

Off thread. Have a look at the UKIP accounting units on the the Electoral Commission website. "Overseas" is interesting. So is the one above it.

Looks like Mandy(I've got a mandate, even though nobody voted for me.) mandelson's taking flak again.

The bloke should be in the nick, mind you the way things are, Brussels and the justice system reward criminals.

I suppose that's what you call common purpose.

To the poster who modestly described their posting as "off thread" because they invited us to look at the UKIP accounting units for "overseas" and the one above it on the electoral commission website, I would say it is very far from being off thread - look at the entry for South West Bedfordshire and you'll see what I mean!

Well,I laughed after seeing Beckett this morning on bbc tv,squirming.

Like most liebour mps, they look as though they have been on a nlp course, without much success.

Liebour retaining euro meps?PMSL
(Advert in the guardian, fraudster and Oppertunist required.)

I'm off down the bookies, the odds have definately shortened on liebour euro mps losing their seats.Good news though, the Monster Raving Looney party look like worth having a punt beating liebour at the next bye -election.LOL

Wonder if UKIP will follow the lead of Labour and the Tories in terms of expenses transparency. Doubt it somehow.

ukip and expenses transparency will probably follow the examples of Conway,Mandleson et-al.

UKIP has no expenses transparency. It is the least transparent of any UK political party.

Apparently yet another UKIP MEP has decided to throw in the towel. To lose 1..... but to lose 5....
